This film about the 2006 World Pride March sparks plenty of controversy about gay rights—especially because it seems many voices are left out.

Making its New England premiere recently at the Wasserman Cinematheque at Brandeis University, Jerusalem is Proud to Present, written and directed by Nitzan Gilady, tells the story of the World Pride March in 2006. Jerusalem was presented as part of the National Center for Jewish Film’s 11th Annual Film Festival, which included movies from France, Germany, Sweden, the U.S. and, of course, Israel.

True to Life: Stories of Ramla Youth

True to Life
Molly Ritvo

Israeli teens from Ramla share their lives on film. Their short vignettes make up a documentary directed by and starring themselves. But their stories are anything but typical.

Ever wanted to know what it's really like to be a teen in Israel? The Boston Jewish Film Festival recently showed a documentary, True to Life, about Israeli teens' experiences in Ramla, a lower-class suburb near Jerusalem. What's really cool is that the film was made, produced, and shot by the teens who star in it.

Back to My Roots for Passover

Back to My Roots for Passover

Where did our London Correspondent spend Passover this year? Not in the U.K....Read about Josh's seder in Israel.

This year I was fortunate enough to be one of the 6,000 Brits that spent Passover in Israel. Along with my family, I arrived at Ben Gurion Airport tired and excited the day before the seder, ready to experience the highs and lows of celebrating a familiar holiday in a not-so-familiar country. My family just bought a small apartment in the seaside town of Netanya, north of Tel Aviv, so that's where I was based for my holiday.
