JFL Media (Jewish Family & Life), the publisher of JVibe, is a fast-growing entrepreneurial non-profit organization that publishes original Jewish content online and in print. Founded in 1996, JFL has expanded to include many award-winning projects and programs, including BabagaNewz, JBooks.com, JPhilanthropy.com, Sh’ma, Socialaction.com and more. JFL’s home offices are in Newton, Mass., with regional offices in Maryland.
JVibe is a bi-monthly publication for today’s Jewish teens. Filled with celebrity interviews, the latest in music, movies and sports, conversations with teens and info on what’s hot in Israel, JVibe presents a unique offering that goes far beyond the typical teen magazine.
And don’t forget about JVibe.com, the magazine’s companion website! With a new and original online issue every month, JVibe.com brings you more of the same stuff teens love—pop culture events, celebrity interviews, news from Israel, sports stories and info on the cool stuff Jewish teens are up to around the world.
Our Funders
JVibe has generous funders who keep our magazine alive. Among them are the Marcus Foundation, the Circle of Service Foundation, the Richard and Rhoda Goldman Fund and the Harold Grinspoon Foundation. Go to our Partners page to read more about our supporters.

Lindsey Silken
Editor-in-Chief
Lindsey loves Boston, the Red Sox and really, really good books. She stays busy writing fiction and is working towards her MFA in creative writing at the Bennington Writing Seminars. In her "free time" she paints and sails in Rhode Island. She hates to cook, but is a sucker for ice cream at any time of the year and can be bought with a pint of J.P. Licks.

Kali D. Foxman
Associate Editor
Kali recently moved to Boston from Virginia, though she actually grew up in Vermont. She likes practicing yoga, taking walks, watching movies, exploring Boston and eating lots of dark chocolate. And she can never resist buying just one more pair of shoes.

Elizabeth Imber
Intern Extraordinaire
Liz has been JVibe’s editorial intern since February 2007 and is a student at Brandeis University. She's currently "on leave" from her editorial duties to study abroad in Scotland. In her free time, Liz can be found reading crime novels, being overly competitive in Scrabble and singing a whole lot.

Adam can sometimes be seen on the streets of downtown Boston rocking JVibe apparel and is a fan of all things Natalie Portman, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Mila Kunis, and Samantha Harris.

Lindsay Harris
Marketing Associate
Lindsay is a recent college graduate and newbie to the Boston area. She takes her love of music quite seriously and is always on the hunt for concerts to attend. She also enjoys photography, traveling and adding Nutella to any food within reason.

Hyung Park
Web Magician
Although he doesn't look Jewish on the outside, Hyung is all kosher on the inside. While in high school, he was voted "most likely to fall into a volcano." Not that he's clumsy, he just has trouble seeing big things, like...elephants. If he were a road map, you'd be lost.

Sharon Sbarsky
Webmistress
Sharon was raised in New York City and went to Johns Hopkins University, but has made her life in Massachusetts. She enjoys chocolate, puzzles, science fiction and traveling all over the world to meet with others who shares her tastes. She will forever remain young at heart.

Joshua Sherer
Web Producer
Josh takes his seat at the beginning of his day with four shots of espresso and a PowerBar. He then fires up iTunes (mostly metal, hip hop, punk, bebop, hardcore and swing), Firefox (29 extensions, two themes), Safari (three extensions), Adium (dia regular, bigblacy, bloo, Decay 2.0 and Group Bubbles) and Smultron (configured to compile against Flex 2 SDK). “Been there, done that” as an underground rock star wannabe, Josh now comfortably slams away on his drums in the home he has made with his wife, son and dog.

Linda V. Curran
Creative Director
Linda proudly displays copies of JVibe on her coffee table at home, right on top of Rolling Stone. She enjoys scouring New England for antiques, sipping Starbucks and listening to vintage Springsteen.

Jill Winitzer
Graphic Designer
Jill started designing at the Boston Phoenix many years ago. When she’s not dreaming up colorful layouts for JVibe’s print magazine, she knits, does sudoku and watches her two kids play sports.

JTab
What’s the JTab?
The JTab, or JVibe Teen Advisory Board, is a group of dedicated Jewish teens who make this all possible! In addition to their valuable input and feedback on every issue and weekly communication with the editors, board members contribute articles and interviews to both the website and the magazine, and one member is featured each issue in our Guest Editor Column. Meet the JTab.
That sounds awesome! How do I join?
If you are interested in becoming part of the Teen Advisory Board, please send an email to editor@jvibe.com explaining a little bit about yourself and why you want to join the board.
I’m a teen and I want to write for JVibe.com. How do I do that?
If you are a teen and want to write for the web, please contact editor@jvibe.com with some ideas. Our website is mostly teen-written and is published monthly. Articles are generally 500-700 words and fall into four categories: Pop Life (news on Jewish celebrities, movies, interviews), Real Life (anything happening in your Jewish life), Action (social action, tzedakah, tikkun olam, etc.), and Israel. Articles are due no later than the 15th of the month prior to publication (e.g. articles for the June web are due May 15th).
Before you start: Remember, you’re writing for other teens. If it puts you to sleep, it’s going to put other teens to sleep. Write like you’re talking to a friend—keep it casual in tone. But also remember to get your point across; think about what would keep you captivated if you were the reader. And always feel free to send us a rough draft—we’re happy to give you feedback.
I’m an adult and I want to write for JVibe magazine. How do I do that?
If you’re interested in writing for JVibe, please contact the editor at editor@jvibe.com. We accept pitches year-round, though many of our ideas are preconceived by the editors. The magazine is broken into a few features and several departments, including Pop Life, full of pop-culture profiles and interviews. We are always in search of excellent writers with flair! Please see our magazine section for examples of previous articles and our media kit for upcoming themes. We also accept pitches for web articles, though our website does not pay writers. You can inquire with the editor about our rates for print.
Before you start: Close your eyes, take a deep breath and think back to when you were a teen. What did you care about most at that age? What got your juices flowing? The same issues that were relevant to you then are still relevant now, plus all the things that we all—adults and teens alike —have on our minds. We would be kidding ourselves if we said it was that easy, but we’re happy to send you some sample copies of the magazine to give you a better sense of our writing style and topics. For our editorial calendar, see our media kit. Jewish teens are smart, aware and, above all, busy! So keep your word count down and your enthusiasm up.
